Tucker Development Brings Luxury Beauty Retailer Bluemercury to Chicago’s Fulton Market District. Upscale beauty and spa chain joins Lululemon and Bonci Pizza in 900 West mixed-use development

CHICAGO (March 14, 2018) – Tucker Development Corp. today announced Bluemercury has signed a lease for two Randolph Street storefronts at 900 West, the developer’s multi-building, mixed-use development in the Fulton Market District of Chicago’s West Loop. The fast-growing luxury beauty retailer, whose locations offer an array of cosmetics products and in-store spa treatments, will fill an 1,800-square-foot space at the corner of Sangamon and Randolph streets, with an anticipated summer 2018 opening.

“As a leading developer and manager of mixed-use properties in the Midwest and East Coast markets, we have built a reputation on the thoughtful consideration of the neighborhoods in which we complete new and adaptive reuse projects,” said Richard Tucker, CEO of Tucker Development. “At 900 West, we sought to preserve and restore these late-1800s buildings, keeping with the character of the historic Fulton Market District while adapting them for modern use. In doing so, we’ve created a destination for sought-after brands like Bluemercury, whose merchandise and services will fill a retail void for residents in this burgeoning enclave of the West Loop.”

Completed in 2017, 900 West is a renovation of 10 historic low-rise buildings on the 900 block of West Randolph Street, with frontage on Randolph, Sangamon and Lake streets. Together, they comprise 45,000 square feet of retail at street level and an additional 45,000 square feet of office on the upper floors. Bluemercury joins Lululemon and Bonci Pizza, both of which opened at 900 West last year.

“Chicago has been a royal flush for Bluemercury,” said Barry Beck, co-founder and COO of Bluemercury. “Although today we have more than 170 stores nationwide, Chicago will forever be part of our foundation since we opened two of the company’s first 10 stores here. The West Loop was an obvious next choice for us as the client is incredibly chic and on-trend. With our latest Bluemercury store, our 11th in the Chicago area, we continue to adhere to our mission of being the best in the world at giving beauty advice and bringing luxury beauty products to the doorstep of Chicago’s superwomen.”

In recent years, the Fulton Market District has continued its evolution into a vibrant mixed-use neighborhood, attracting high-profile employers like Google and McDonald’s, whose new international headquarters, scheduled to open this spring, is just three blocks from of 900 West. Upscale hospitality offerings like Ace Hotel and Soho House Chicago are also nearby, with several others, including the Hoxton Hotel and Nobu Hotel, currently under construction.

In addition to walkability, 900 West also offers accessibility thanks to its convenient location near major expressways and public transportation. The CTA’s Morgan Station, located just a block away, provides access to the Green and Pink lines. 900 West is also close to several CTA bus routes.
